• Check Air Pressure

As temperatures swing, the air pressure in tires can fluctuate by several PSI.  At least once a month, check the air pressure in your ATV, UTV, trailer, etc.

  • Use Frost and Snow

If you get a fresh snowfall, or a heavy frost, use it to scout trails for late-season deer activity.  Even if your deer season is already closed, you can still scout the fresh snowfall and note it for next year.

  • Late Season Waterfowl

By the time January rolls around, waterfowl are in full breeding plumage.  Make your decoys match the season with a fresh coat of paint, or break out the new ones you have stashed away for such an occasion.

  • Outdoor Shows

Start marking your calendar now for the Spring outdoor shows and banquets.  Check the usual websites for a schedule of events near you.

  • Prep for the Next Season

As deer and waterfowl seasons wind down, begin evaluating your equipment for the next hunts.  Whether it be predator hunting, spring snow goose shoots, or the “squirrel rut“, prep now for success.

  • Prep for Turkeys

Start evaluating your turkey hunting gear this month.  The season will be here before you know it, and often during the early season you’ll experience some cold mornings where you need the same gear you’re using now for deer and waterfowl.  Don’t forget to evaluate your calls, you might need to pickup a new Ripper from SBO.  Break out your gear now to make sure you’re properly prepared for the thunder chickens!
